If I was to say at one point that every musician needs to do one piano album in his career ,than in this very moment in musical history it is the pop music and what is left of it that is very actual ,simply because it is the worst ever pop music we hear in the mainstream . Antimon in this wonderful release full of contrasts plays variations of pop , very musicaly crafted and yet any surgical precision is avoided so this mini album is more alive ,maybe a bit retro sounding and even experimental . The production doesn't make it sterile even when it does sound clean ,a bit of tape recording effect is present which fits really well in the instrumentals ,all in it's place .. so kind of proper for the new year thing eve , coming from the north ,a gift from Antimon and SHKART ,enjoy and have lovely time and ..er don't make lines . [51bts032] Acousmatic - Experiments

Brice Moise aka Acousmatik is a French Sound Engineer. Brice discovered electronic music in  1995, being attracted by trance music, and then slowly moving toward techno, hardtechno, hardcore, drum&bass, electro, IDM...slowly becoming an "electronic music addicted". During  his studies as Sound Engineer, Brice started playing drum machines and samplers. Brice began to mix vinyls and this gave him the right enthusiasm in order to start composing as AcousmatiK. Brice composes with Reaktor or Max/Msp controlled by surfaces like BCR2000 and Lemur. AcousmatiK compositions are played live, in opposition with the "sit-down-mouse-like" approach, and this brings real life into all the Brice's songs.

AcousmatiK's music is characterized by complex structures flying from ambient to breakcore and idm. "Experiments" is constructed with a solid background of sounds manipulation, which indeed characterize all the Brice's compositions. "Experiments" is all very good but there are gems that is worth to comment. "Space trip" starts calm gradually becoming a mess of patterns: you
will slowly close your eyes and start shaping strange dreams. "Pipe" is simply a masterpiece of "experiments", sometimes reminding the former autechre's works. "Way out" is an emotional explosion. This album is a pleasant trip into the multidimensional space of electronic sounds. "Experiments" is an electronic experience that will certainly remain among the 51beats best choices ever.

Second Thought - Another Setting Sun

"Another Setting Sun" is the final album from Second Thought, the previous recording name of UK musician Ross Baker. This album is the coda to a quintilogy of full length albums released between 2004 and 2011. Music of Second Thought has always stayed close to the concept of dream-like travel, troubled wordless travel, and organic journeys. For those familiar with Second Thoughts output, the sound of "Another Setting Sun" fall directly between "Purlieu" and "Leaf Pass". This makes sense seeing that much of the music here was originally recorded before "Purlieu" and finished around the same time as "Leaf Pass". The result is a varied array of moods, paths, and instrumental sounds. Each track is linked together with field recordings, bird sounds, and spoken word snippets. Layered above, is reverberated synths, classical piano, and subdued electronic rhythms. It is equal parts beautiful, ambient, and experimental. A fitting tale of warm endings and new beginnings.

'Another Setting Sun' is a history of my music from the earliest days of Second Thought through to the present. All tracks here are previously unheard, or have been unavailable for the best part of a decade. I hope you enjoy the album as much as I enjoyed putting it together and reliving all of these memories. Kevin Bryce is based out of Vancouver, Canada. Currently he makes electronic music that falls loosely into the ambient and downtempo genres. He has been making music since 1982. His latest efforts have focused on trying to express sonically the things that have influenced him throughout his life.

"I've always been amazed at the ability music has to capture moments in time. Listen to a song you haven't heard in a while and memories from that time will come flooding back, the people you knew, the feelings you had at the time, where your head was at, etc. Conversely, with some music, you can close your eyes and imagine things that have never existed. That is what I try to do with the music I make today. It is my hope that the listener will sit back, close their eyes and feel a sense of nostalgia for a moment that never existed, remember a scene that never happened.

I hope as well that this music will be played as background music. I hope it is just audible enough to be heard behind conversations, yet loud enough to creep into the conscious mind during a quiet moment.

Most of all, it is my hope that someone somewhere will enjoy listening to this music as much as I enjoyed making it."

The tracks in his debut release on Mahorka were inspired by nature and the time he has spent in the forests of British Columbia. "I think the dichotomy between nature and technology was the biggest influence on most of these works. "When I'm feeling really egotistical I like to pretend I'm like Proust documenting my own history in art, except using electronic music instead of literature. So these songs are personal vignettes in a way, moments from my past that I've tried to musically recreate."

Russian guitarist and composer living and working the last 15 years in Europe. Evgeny Makarov was born in Smolensk, Russia, in 1970. At the age of 15, he started playing the guitar. But he really forms himself playing blues and rock music. His start in free improvisation dates from a tour in Germany in 1995 with the jazz quartet formed by his father Vladislav (who was one of the pioneers in the field of free improvisation during the pre perestroika period.), "the Vladislav Makarov Quartet". During the next ten years, he divides his time between theatre and music, he goes on a training course to become an actor at the Dramatic Art Institute of Smolensk and receives his diploma in 1992.

Since 2002, he has started composing. In particular he composed for a young French poet who performed in Berlin in the «Slam Poetry» evenings. Together with Vladislav Makarov and Valia Chesnais, a group has been launched by Evgeny -- the «New Russian Project». The group played at the «Mudd club» in Berlin and recorded an album «Hot Summer in Berlin Live «. At the end of the year 2003, he completed his first solo album «Eleguitarycally» ,and composes for a theatre-dance show, «Das alte Kind». Among his latest projects should be Xtra-trio with Paul Scwingenschlög and “Trio Cortège” with Alexei Borisov and Valia Chesnais

Among other Makarov’ collaborations are the joint projects with the Henry Kaiser, Gary Lucas (USA), Edgard Hirt, M.Veborg (Germany), Gilles Aubry (Switzerland), Markus Godwyn (England) Andrei Izdebski (Poland), Mark Sarrazy (France) Nikolai Rubanov, Dmitri Kahovski, Alexei Borisov, Andrej Bavtchenkov, Ildar Harissov (Russia), Anton Nikkila (Finland), Sören Roulf (Sweden), Raul Colosimo (Italy) Evgeny also collaborates with the artist Viktor Nikolaev and dancer Andrey Beresin (Pina Bausch group) Also Evgeny taking part at such wellknown international festivals as SKIF (SPB/Moscow 2004 - 2006), 100 Crad (Berlin 2003), TABU (Berlin 200)

Stroboskop021 We Call It Skweeast Vol.3

We all know there's something weird about those Scandinavians. Is it the polar light? The long nights during winter? We just don't know. Somewhere in the snow they invented something new. They defrosted a couple of EAST European samples, and microwaved them with some popular Scandinavian SKWEEE- tunes. And that's what they call 'Skweeast'. The guys at Stroboskop managed to find some tracks in the deep dark forest and serve them to you on this small compilation. It's the third allready, so there must be more of it out there.
